For three-piece (3P) aerosols, the welded bodies must have the strength needed to resist a vacuum at the beginning of the filling process. That requires a minimum steel thickness of around 0.17 mm, whichever grade is selected.
Batch annealed (BA) steel grades are the most popular, but continuously annealed (CA) packaging steel grades can also be used.
Metallic coating: Tin coating only (ECCS not weldable). Passivation 311 is the most widely used but Passivation 300 is possible if improved wettability is required.
